It was a tough day out all day for all three grades, with Byron simply too good from start to finish in all three grades.

Our young and improving Reserves got taught a footy lesson or two, but they gained plenty from a pretty experienced senior Byron reserves side.

Our women unfurled the 2018 Premiership flag just before the bounce, however were on the back foot right from the beginning of the game with Byron displaying some of the most all round speed in all parts of the game seen in this competition to date, producing a run and carry style of game where majority of players were accountable for each other. The Swans rallied a few times, however Byron simply kept the scoreboard pressure on every single time blunting any Lismore momentum. Congrats to the Byron women.

In the Men's, with former AFL Captain of North Melbourne Andrew Swallow debuting for Byron, it was always going to be a big ask for the Swans, who in the first quarter showed lots of intensity, however as the game went on, and opened up, Byron's run and clean disposals out of packs was just too much, hurting the Swans on the scoreboard on almost every forward entry. However it was the type of wake up call the squad would need in round 2, and one they can rally from and use to improve as the year continues.
